Scott Flynn Bio
At just 16, Scott Flynn is already a standout figure in Irish traditional music. Hailing from the southeast of Ireland, his journey with the bodhrán started as a passion quickly became a path, one that’s taken him to stages and screens he never imagined, and connected him with some of the best in the business, people who share the same love for music and tradition.
He is showing that the drum has no boundaries. It fits into any genre, any setting, and any collaboration from raw trad sessions to contemporary fusion. He has always been drawn to its energy from a very young age, the way it can lift a tune, drive a session and he plays it with instinct, fearless ambition, and a deep respect for the music that came before him. Whether performing live or collaborating with artists, he is always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of what this drum can do.
His unique style of playing has taken him from TG4’s Fleadh TV to Áras an Uachtaráin and supporting Chasing Abbey at their hometown show. He’s also had the opportunity to perform with Celtic Steps the Show in Killarney, Rualie Bualie in Tullamore Trad Fest and the internationally renowned Cherish the Ladies, bringing his bodhrán playing to audiences across Ireland and beyond. His many collaborations include artists such as Gerry O’ Connor, Joanie Madden, Ger O’ Donnell, Enda Scahill, Ali Levack, Trevor Sexton, Tulua, Sean Kelliher, Anthony Kearns, Calum MacPhail & Sean Cousins, Sean McGee, Marcus Moloney, Nora Byrne Kavanagh, Pat Bass, Cathal Guinan, Eddie Whelan, David Howley, Colin & Shane Farrell, Bobby Fox & Fin Furey but to name a few.
From social media posts to presidential parties, he’s here to play boldly, dream big and is proud to be part of a generation that’s not just preserving Irish music, but reshaping it blending roots with fearless creativity and keeping the bodhrán at the heart of it all.
